After 12 years of creating product, it is with bittersweet feelings that we are a taking a long-term pause to reassess how we can engage in a more meaningful way of creating for ourselves.

In 2011, when we began designing our first few bags, we were fueled by the excitement that came from creating something we felt was unique. We decided that these bags would live within an ever-evolving framework called Building Block, characterized by a playful lexicon of forms. Items could range from bags, footwear, home goods, and spacial design—all parts to a greater whole.

That initial excitement we discovered years ago has sustained a decade of diverse ideas and products that our community has graciously supported. Along the way we’ve met inspiring creators + collaborators, lost our way within the algorithm, found our way back through a little intuition, and done our best to stay grounded in spite of the changing tides of fashion.

Through all this, we still believe that creating is cyclical and that time is important for transformation. Where there is passion, beauty, and authenticity, there comes further learning, discovering, and moments of pause that must be done. For us, it is vital to take the time to rename what’s important, evolve, and adapt. After all, Building Block’s original ethos has always been about championing process and evolution.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our customers who have continued to covet each collection, it still brings us immense joy to see our bags loved and worn by all of you out in the world. Thank you to our wholesale partners over the years who have trusted in the potential of our product, we hope you continue to advocate for small brands who need healthy partnerships along the way. Most of all, we are eternally grateful to our team (past and present) for believing in two sisters who just want to make fun things at the end of the day.

Our current offering of products online are the last production run we will make. Items will be discontinued once sold out and archived. We sincerely hope that our pieces will carry out their intention to remain classics in your life for years to come.
